"Leave it, they will solve it on site!", "Let's take a detail from another project!" or "Let's copy a detail from a book/magazine/the internet!" are unconstructive ways of approaching the technical side.
The result of design, the one we can truly be proud of, is not the project submitted but the completed building. For our vision to be successfully implemented and as faithful to the project as possible, special attention must be paid to the architectural detail. This is usually done at a scale of 1:5, representing the closest form to the actual scale of the construction. The detail drawing includes the most important information that helps the construction site with execution.
Whether we want to achieve a special image or technically solve details that may cause issues in operation, the design and drafting of details are very important to achieve the desired final result. Yes, the detailing part is complicated and requires a lot of work. No, it should not be left to the end, but should be considered alongside the rest of the project, even if the actual drawing is done later. What we aim to do in this workshop is to identify general constraints that will guide us in the thinking/designing of a detail, follow the logic of the process from concept to execution and operation, and finally understand the importance of a detailed approach.
