This continuing education and professional development association was founded at the initiative of a university professor who, upon retirement, felt she still had something valuable to share.
And with whom.
Thus, a core group was formed, consisting of senior university professors (architects and engineers) esteemed experts in their fields, along with much younger professionals who, in turn, have the pleasure to pass on the knowledge and experience they once received. Teaching is not merely a profession but a calling, a gift that is not granted to everyone; those who have it must pass the knowledge that they received from their mentors. Each generation adds its own experience and accumulated knowledge. Otherwise, every generation would be doomed to start from scratch.
This is the essence of the famous Chinese proverb:
"If you think about the next year, sow seeds!
If you think about the next ten years, plant trees!
If you think about the next hundred years, educate people!"
At the same time, it is equally true that one must recognize the limits of one own’s knowledge and always continue learning. At any age, and in any profession (including—or especially—in that of a teacher).
On the other hand, it is important to emphasize the inseparable bond between teacher and student (where "student" does not necessarily mean, as per the dictionary, "someone enrolled in a university or higher education institution"). The two entities are connected by an invisible but unbreakable thread: there is no teacher without students, just as there are no students without a teacher. A teacher walks 50% of the path; the student must complete the rest alone.
Or, as another Chinese proverb wisely puts it:
"Teachers open the door, but you must enter by yourself."
