They are structural elements that can lead to accidents more frequently than others… and even more serious ones. Every staircase must be designed and represented correctly, especially since their detailing often involves situations that require extra attention. Design programs may give us the impression that they are helping us, with stairs now being solvable with a click of a button and entering a few simple parameters. However, it is essential to understand the logic of the solutions and, more importantly, the specific problems that a simple line in the plan can generate in section and detail. Through exercises addressing common situations encountered in practice, we aim not only to understand what correct representation means in the case of stairs but also to become aware of the possible effects of seemingly minor mistakes.
For this workshop, we recommend completing the course "STAIRS. Design requirements based on Romanian legislation" in advance (link to the course or click directly on the course name to go to the course page).
