While designers often shy away from roofs, in the case of terraces, it is often the beneficiaries who oppose them, associating the image of a building with a terrace with that of a “block”, which in turn is linked to many negative connotations. In fact, such fears or associations should not form the basis of a decision regarding the type of covering for a building; instead, it should be based on the advantages of each system and how it meets needs and requirements. Compared to a roof, a terrace covering can become a usable surface. Green terraces, relaxation areas or terraces dedicated to technical equipment can be proposed. However, this flexibility comes with specific resolution requirements, which we aim to discover in a practical way during this workshop.
For this workshop, we recommend completing the course "COMPLEX ROOFS and how they are reflected in exigent design. Specific regulations" in advance.
